JSON / YAML Converter
About the JSON / YAML Converter
Convert JSON to YAML or YAML to JSON in one place, with the output updating as you type. It suits Kubernetes manifests, Docker Compose files, GitHub Actions workflows and OpenAPI specs, where the same data is often needed in both formats.
How to use it
- 1 Choose JSON to YAML or YAML to JSON.
- 2 Paste your document into the input pane.
- 3 Read the converted output as you type, or the error message if the input cannot be parsed.
- 4 Click Copy to put the result on your clipboard.
Frequently asked questions
Nested levels are indented with two spaces, and multi-line strings are written as literal blocks (|) so their line breaks survive. Structures nested more than ten levels deep are written inline.
No. Comments are not part of the data, so they are dropped when the YAML is parsed and cannot appear in the JSON output.
Yes. Anchors (&) and aliases (*) are resolved while the YAML is parsed, so the JSON output contains the full repeated values.
Input is limited to 100,000 characters. Larger documents are refused with a message rather than cut short.
