How to play Spelling Bee
- 1 Make words from the seven letters in the honeycomb. Tap the letters or type them, then press Enter.
- 2 Every word must be at least four letters long and include the center letter.
- 3 Letters can be used more than once. Shuffle the outer letters whenever you need a fresh look.
- 4 Four-letter words score 1 point. Longer words score 1 point per letter, and a pangram, a word that uses all seven letters, earns 7 bonus points.
- 5 Your rank rises as you score. Reach Genius, 70% of the day's points, to solve the puzzle, and find every word to become Queen Bee.

Frequently asked questions
A word counts if it is at least four letters long, contains the center letter, uses only the seven letters in the honeycomb and is in the game's word list. Letters can repeat within a word. The word list sticks to common English words, leaving out proper nouns, abbreviations, hyphenated words and offensive words, and puzzles never use the letter S. If you see "Not in word list", the word is not in our dictionary.
Four-letter words are worth 1 point each. Longer words score 1 point per letter, so a six-letter word earns 6. A pangram scores its length plus a 7-point bonus.
A pangram is a word that uses all seven letters at least once. Every puzzle has at least one, each is worth a 7-point bonus, and the ones you find are highlighted in your word list.
Your rank depends on your share of the puzzle's total points: Beginner, Moving Up (2%), Good (5%), Solid (8%), Nice (15%), Great (25%), Amazing (40%), Genius (70%) and Queen Bee (100%). Queen Bee means you found every word.
Reaching Genius solves the day's puzzle, extends your streak and unlocks a Share button that copies your rank, word count, pangrams and points without revealing any words. You can keep playing toward Queen Bee.
A new set of letters goes live every day at midnight UTC, and everyone plays the same puzzle. Your streak counts the days in a row you reach Genius, so a day without Genius means your next one starts a new streak.
There is one daily puzzle. For more, press Practice to play as many extra sets of letters as you like. Practice puzzles are picked at random, are never today's letters, and reaching Genius in one does not count toward your streak.
