Year at a Glance Calendar: View Any Year, 1900 to 2100

See any year from 1900 to 2100 at a glance with our free year calendar: color-coded months, weekday and weekend counts, leap years and planning tips.

A year-at-a-glance calendar puts every day of the year on one screen, so you can see how weeks, months and weekends line up without flipping pages. Take 2027: it starts on a Friday and ends on a Friday, has 365 days, 261 weekdays and 104 weekend days, and is not a leap year. Christmas Day falls on a Saturday.

Our free year calendar shows any year from 1900 to 2100 as one continuous grid, with each month in its own color and today's date picked out. Below the grid it counts the year's days, weekdays and weekend days and tells you whether it is a leap year. This guide explains how to read the layout, what the figures mean and how to use a yearly view for planning.

How the year calendar is laid out

Most wall calendars give each month its own block, and every block starts a new grid. That splits any week that crosses a month boundary. The year calendar works differently.

  • Days run continuously. The whole year is one unbroken run of days, four weeks to a row. Every column is the same weekday from top to bottom, so Mondays line up down the whole year.
  • Months are colors. Each month has its own tint. The 1st of each month carries a short label, such as JAN or FEB, and a colored line that marks where the month begins partway along a row.
  • Weekends are shaded. Saturdays and Sundays use a deeper shade of the month's color.
  • Today stands out. The current date is the one white cell with no color at all.
  • The ends stay aligned. The first and last rows include a few days of the neighboring years. They are left blank so the columns stay in line.

Each cell shows a small weekday label and the date number. Hover over a date to see it in full, such as "Friday, December 25, 2026".

Year facts at a glance

These are the figures the calendar shows under the grid for the next few years, counting Saturdays and Sundays as weekend days:

Year Starts on Days Weekdays Weekend days Leap year
2026 Thursday 365 261 104 No
2027 Friday 365 261 104 No
2028 Saturday 366 260 106 Yes
2029 Monday 365 261 104 No
2030 Tuesday 365 261 104 No

Why the weekday count changes from year to year

A common year is 52 weeks plus 1 day, and a leap year is 52 weeks plus 2 days. The 52 full weeks always hold 260 weekdays and 104 weekend days. The extra day or two decide the rest:

  • A common year that starts on a weekday has 261 weekdays. One that starts on a Saturday or Sunday has 260 weekdays and 105 weekend days.
  • A leap year that starts on Monday through Thursday has 262 weekdays, as 2024 did. 2028 starts on a Saturday, so both extra days are weekend days, giving 260 weekdays and 106 weekend days.

Remember that these counts do not subtract public holidays. For working days, take the weekday figure and remove the holidays that fall on weekdays where you live.

How leap years work

A year is a leap year if it divides evenly by 4, except for century years, which must divide evenly by 400. The calendar's range includes all three cases: 1900 is not a leap year, 2000 is, and 2100 is not. In a leap year, the Leap year figure reads Yes and February has 29 days.

How to use the year calendar

  1. Open the year calendar. It opens on the current year.
  2. Use the arrows beside the year in the page header to step back or forward, anywhere from 1900 to 2100. Click the year itself to jump back to the current year.
  3. Scan the grid by color for months and by column for weekdays. Hover over any date for its full name.
  4. Read the summary under the grid: Days in year, Weekdays, Weekend days and Leap year.

Linking to a year and starting weeks on Sunday

The page address records the year, so you can bookmark or share a particular one. Add ?y=2030 to the address to open 2030 directly. Weeks start on Monday by default. Pick Sun beside the year in the header to start them on Sunday instead; the address then carries ?week=sunday, which you can also combine with a year as ?y=2030&week=sunday. On a phone the switch is hidden to leave room for the year, so add ?week=sunday to the address yourself.

Ways to use a yearly calendar

  • Plan projects across months. Because rows never restart, a six-week project that crosses a month end reads as one unbroken stretch. To get the exact number of days between two milestones, use the date difference calculator.
  • Spot long weekends. Holidays that land on a Friday or Monday stand out next to the shaded weekend columns. Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday, which makes December 25 to 27 a three-day weekend.
  • Check observed holidays. July 4, 2027 is a Sunday, so the US federal holiday is observed on Monday, July 5.
  • Find the weekday of a birthday or anniversary. Step to the year and look up the date. The age calculator tells you how many days are left until your next birthday.
  • Schedule across countries. Pick meeting dates on the calendar, then use the time zone converter to set a time that works in each city.
